The UWAS International Rice Dumpling Festival (5 June 2016)
To celebrate the dumpling festival, UWAS International Rice Dumpling Festival was held on 5 June 2016. More than 30 UWAS members and friends joined the event held at Grandeur 8 to learn the art of making different kinds of dumplings from around the world.
Participants had the chance to make their own Singapore style Chinese dumpling with meat and salted egg yolk filling, Nonya dumpling, Vietnam style sweet dumpling, and even a special mango sago dumpling. It was an eye opening experience to be exposed to different kinds of dumpling that many would otherwise not even know about.
Members were treated to a spread of local Yong Tau Foo and fruits at the end the day and all participants took home a bunch of their proudly self-made rice dumplings to share with their family.
Through this event, members gained new knowledge on dumpling varieties, built stronger bond with one another and new friendships were forged.
