Description of Programme: to develop English literacy & numeracy skills, basic reading skills; provide opportunities for children to learn and develop their creative and social skills,
Participants: children aged 6 – 12 years old from under privileged families.

Class size: 45 children/run
Sessions: 40 weekly sessions
Age group: 6-12 years of age
Need: We need UWAS members to help fund and/or volunteer as assistant tutors, event organisers & administrators.
Other than the weekly English & Maths lessons, the children also attend Computing, Robotics and other ICT lessons.
In addition to the class sessions, learning journeys are arranged to places of interest such as the Science Centre, various industries, farms and events such as the Aerospace Show. They also celebrate major festivals such as Christmas and Chinese New Year.
Graduation Ceremonies are held on a bi-annual basis for the children who have completed the course. About 100 parents and volunteers attend the ceremony.
This program has benefitted more than 45 under privileged children per run of 40 weeks and there have been 4 runs to date.
The program has received positive feedback and support from parents. The new (5th) run started on 11 March 2017.
