High purity quartz sand processing flow

High-purity quartz sand plays a vital role in high-tech industries such as semiconductors, electronics, and solar energy due to its excellent physical and chemical properties. Its purification process is a complex and delicate project involving multiple steps to remove impurities from the raw ore and obtain high-purity quartz sand. The following is a detailed description of the high-purity quartz sand purification process:

1. Raw material preparation

The production of high-purity quartz sand begins with the selection of high-quality raw materials. The raw materials must have high purity, low radioactivity, and low iron content. Natural quartz sand is usually used and preliminarily processed by screening, washing, grinding, etc 

2. Quartz crushing

The raw materials are crushed by jaw crushers, impact crushers, and sand making machines to achieve a particle size suitable for subsequent processing

3. Quartz screening

The crushed quartz sand is screened by a circular vibrating screen to separate qualified sand and gravel. The particle size that does not meet the requirements will be re-sent to the crushing system to form a closed loop 

4. Quartz cleaning

The screened quartz sand is cleaned to remove impurities such as stone powder and dust. When cleaning, it needs to be placed in the cleaning tank according to the process standards and cleaned with clean water 

5. Quartz sand flotation

The cleaned quartz sand is flotated to further separate high-purity quartz particles. Common flotation agents include copper oxide, iron oxide and hydrofluoric acid, etc.

6. Quartz sand iron removal

Quartz sand may still contain a certain amount of iron elements, which requires iron removal. Common methods include high gradient magnetic separation, wet strong magnetic separation and heavy medium separation, etc.

7. Quartz sand pickling

After iron removal, the product may still contain trace impurities and harmful elements, so it needs to be pickled. Common pickling agents include hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, etc.

8. Quartz sand drying

After the above treatment steps, the quartz sand is dried to remove moisture and residual impurities

9. Quartz sand magnetic separation and flotation

Magnetic separation and flotation are performed again to further remove impurities

10. Quartz sand packaging and storage

Finally, after manual inspection, the quartz sand is packaged and stored

The entire purification process requires not only strict operation control, but also strict inspection of product quality at each step to ensure that the final product meets high purity standards.
