3 kinds of iron ore selection process flow

Iron is the earliest discovered, most widely used and most used metal in the world. Iron ore, as the most important raw material for the steel industry, is one of the important strategic mineral resources. Ore dressing is an important way to realize the utilization of iron resources. Here are several common iron ore selection processes.

1. Single weak magnetic separation process

Magnetic separation is the most important method for iron ore beneficiation. It can be divided into weak magnetic separation and strong magnetic separation. Weak magnetic separation is mainly used to separate strong magnetic iron minerals such as magnetite and vanadium-titanium magnetite, while strong magnetic separation is mainly used to separate weak magnetic iron minerals such as hematite, siderite and limonite.

Single weak magnetic separation is the most effective means to process magnetite ore. According to the process structure, it can be divided into continuous grinding-weak magnetic separation process and stage grinding-weak magnetic separation process. Among them, the continuous grinding-weak magnetic separation process is mainly suitable for magnetite ores with coarse embedded particle size or high iron content.

2. Single flotation process

Since the beginning of the 20th century, froth flotation has been applied to industrial production in the Broken Hill ore dressing plant in Australia, and then it has continued to mature and rapidly promoted in the mining field.

An iron ore plant adopts a continuous grinding-single alkaline positive flotation process. For the raw ore with an iron grade of 32.74%, the first-stage grinding fineness is -0.074mm accounting for 45%, the second-stage grinding fineness is -0.074mm accounting for 80%, and the pulp pH value is 9. Sodium carbonate is used as an adjuster, oxidized paraffin soap and tall oil are used as collectors. Through a single positive flotation process, the technical indicators of iron concentrate grade of 59.98%, iron recovery rate of 72.94%, and tailings grade of 14.72% are obtained.

3. Magnetore mixed iron ore beneficiation technology 

Magnetic mixed iron ore generally refers to iron ore in which magnetite and weakly magnetic iron minerals account for a certain proportion. Usually, the ore in which the proportion of mFe to TFe is between 15% and 85% is called magnetic mixed iron ore.

The useful minerals in magnetic mixed iron ore are mainly magnetite, pseudo-hematite, hematite, etc. At present, the treatment of this type of iron ore mainly adopts the combined separation process, such as weak magnetic-strong magnetic-reverse flotation process, gravity separation-magnetic separation-flotation process, magnetic separation-flocculation desliming-reverse flotation process, etc.3 kinds of iron ore selection process flow.png
