Vanadium-titanium magnetite is not only an important source of iron, but also associated with various components such as vanadium, titanium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, platinum group and scandium. The comprehensive utilization value is high, and it can usually be divided into low-vanadium titano-magnetite and high-vanadium titano-magnetite.
The magnetite content of low vanadium titanomagnetite is between 4-8%.
At present, the commonly used beneficiation process is to crush the raw ore to about 3-5mm, more crushing and less grinding. The grinding process is basically the same as the conventional single magnetite process. Vanadium is mainly associated with titanium magnetite, and other associated useful elements are different. Some tailings use an additional flotation process to recover copper, gold, silver and cobalt.
When necessary, strong magnetic pre-selection can be performed on the weak magnetic separation tailings to improve the grade of the selected apatite and the apatite flotation recovery process.
Similar to the process of recovering magnetite from single magnetic ore, some mines use permanent magnet high-gradient magnetic separation to grind waste before grinding, and weak magnetic separation to recover ilmenite from tailings. The recovery of ilmenite often uses gravity separation, strong magnetic separation or combined processes for pre-enrichment, and flotation is used to improve the concentrate grade.
