Kaolin is a common mineral mainly composed of kaolinite clay minerals. Kaolinite clay minerals include kaolinite, halloysite, dickite, pearl clay and the like. It is mainly composed of clay minerals and non-clay minerals. Clay minerals are mainly kaolinite group minerals, non-stick minerals are quartz, feldspar, mica and other minerals.

 

        The chemical formula of kaolinite is: Al[Si4O1o](OH)s. Its theoretical chemical composition is Al2O3: 39.5%, SiO: 46.549%, H2O: 13.96%. Kaolinite is monoclinic or triclinic, with relatively small particle size, usually composed of flaky or tubular crystals of <2m. The pure one is white, without luster, the hardness is close to 1, and the density is about 2.6g/cm. It has plasticity, easy dispersion and suspension, good molding, drying and sintering properties, as well as low cation exchange, high refractoriness, resistance, and breakdown voltage. Kaolin is mainly used in pottery, paper and refractory industries. Secondly, it is used for coating glue filler and so on. A small amount is used in plastics, paints, pigments, pharmaceutical textiles, petroleum, chemical industry, building materials, national defense and other industrial sectors.

 

        There are three types of kaolin deposits: weathered, hydrothermally altered and sedimentary deposits. Example: The Donggongxia kaolin deposit in Longyan, Fujian is a granite weathered kaolin deposit. The ore body occurs in the granite weathering zone, which is like layered and capped. The ore is grayish white, khaki, sandy and earthy. The mineral composition is halloysite, kaolinite, illite and so on. Main chemical composition: SiO2: 65~73%, Al2O: 15~24%, Fe_OiO2 content is low

 

        Mineral processing method: In order to separate non-clay minerals and organics such as quartz, feldspar, mica, iron minerals, titanium minerals, etc. in kaolin ore, and produce ling clay products that can meet the needs of various application fields. Gravity, flotation, magnetic separation, chemical treatment and other beneficiation methods to improve the quality of kaolin have been applied in the process of kaolin beneficiation. Hard kaolin raw ore → crushing → mashing → cyclone classification → centrifuge classification → peeling → bleaching → filtration → drying → product

 

Soft kaolin raw ore→crushing→mashing→cyclone classification→bleaching→filtering→drying→product

 

Sandy kaolin raw ore → mashing → sand removal by spiral classifier → sedimentation tank and hydrocyclone classification → centrifugal classification → filtration → drying → product

 

        The hydrocyclone is the main grading equipment for kaolin beneficiation. Its working principle: under a certain pressure, after the slurry enters the hydrocyclone, it rotates around the overflow pipe at a high speed, and the coarse and heavy particles are directed to the wall of the device, and the rotating downward During the movement, it is finally discharged from the sand settling port to become the sand settling product, and the fine and light particles are discharged through the overflow pipe to become the overflow product. The central part of the cyclone can become an air column without pulp.
